TCX speakers combine high performance drivers and great aesthetics in a compact size. Built with European drivers, optional Corian baffles, and high density MDF veneered inside and out. These speakers require top-notch electronics to sound their best.
TCX speakers: built for discriminating listeners.
There is a distinct Bay Audio sound marked by midrange clarity and impactful bass. We achieve this sound through the elimination of distortion. And nowhere is this more apparent then in TCX speakers.
We design our cabinets for rigidity, with high quality MDF, fully braced throughout. To eliminate warping and splitting, we veneer both sides of the MDF. The inside, veneered with a birch “balancing” sheet keeps the cabinetry stable through humidity and temperature changes. Optional Corian baffles increase cabinet rigidity.
We use a combination of Bay Audio-built and audiophile drivers, each chosen for the lowest THD possible.
Even our crossovers are designed to eliminate distortion, with teflon bypass capacitors, heavy gauge internal wiring, and high power handling components.
The result is a purity and directness to the music — especially when run with high quality electronics.
TCX60: For high-performance mid-sized theaters.
Sized to fit into most cabinets, the TCX60 has impressive bass to 32 Hz (-6 db), and plays at theater volumes (112 dB with 100 watts of clean power). We recommend crossing the TCX60 at 50 Hz, allowing the speaker to add additional bass into the system. Having multiple sources of bass is the best way to achieve smooth response in a theater, and the TCX60 has the power and range to contribute significantly.
Use the TCX42 as a center channel.
The compact TCX42 is a midrange-tweeter-midrange design for broad horizontal dispersion. When placed horizontally, the TCX42 fills a mid-sized theater with clean, articulate dialog. We use our Vocal Integrity tuning with the TCX42, increasing energy in the critical consonance region from 12,000 to 17,000 Hz. It is here that consonants are most pronounced. By increasing energy in this region, dialog becomes easier to understand, even at 20 feet from the speaker.
The TCX40 compact bookshelf speaker.
Few mid-sized speakers can rival the bass response, clarity, and power of the TCX40. Which makes the TCX40 even more impressive. At only 9-1/4 x 5″ (235 x 127 mm), the TCX40 fits onto a desktop or in a small bookcase. Our proprietary 4″ bass unit is an industry leader — with bass and power handling typical of a driver 60% larger. Paired with a sweet-sounding Morel 1-inch chambered tweeter, the TCX40 is an audiophile favorite.
Finishes
TCX speakers are built to order. Our standard finish is a black painted ash veneer. However, we can match any veneer or paint color. TCX speakers come standard with an MDF baffle. Optional Corian baffles are available. Please allow 4 weeks for delivery.
